Patent Defence

Publishing a patent can, of course, leave the inventing organisation open to competitors who may seek to develop their own closely related inventions based upon the results that have been disclosed in the patent. These new inventions might have been overlooked by the original inventors for many—completely unavoidable—reasons. For instance they may have been under external time pressures, or perhaps their thinking had been constrained or channelled in some way—by their past experience, or because they were strongly influenced by some apparently key piece of information.

One way to increase the breadth of innovative thinking that you can apply to the challenge of patent exemplification and defence is to bring the creativity of a different and unconstrained set of experienced scientists to bear on the problem.

Domainex therefore offers a patent defence service to its clients. We can agree with you how much of your proprietary information we have to work with, and can use this to brainstorm our own 'patent busting' ideas. These can be tested through synthesis and testing in our labs, or yours, and the successful ones can be incorporated into your patent strategy.

Of course Domainex can apply a similar approach for you in an 'offensive' sense: so if you want to find out which of your competitors’ patents are important, and which of them can provide openings for you to secure related inventions, we can do that for you too!
