Protein expression

Access to material for screening and structural studies

Screening or structure-based approaches to hit finding require access to multi-milligram quantities of protein. This means that protein expression is very often on the critical path for progression of drug development projects.

We offer our clients protein expression expertise in bacterial and baculoviral systems that can allow the prosecution of even the most demanding of targets. Our in-house facilities allow us to undertake multi-litre fermentation and downstream processing, including protein purification and characterisation, in order to produce multi-milligram quantities of final protein.

Domainex is able to use its proprietary Combinatorial Domain Hunting (CDH) technology to identify relevant protein constructs that can then be expressed in bacterial or baculoviral expression systems. We can also work with constructs that are reported in the literature, or are already available to our clients through their own research.

Recent developments to CDH have allowed us to significantly increase our throughput by prosecuting groups of targets as "cassettes". This multiplexed-mode of CDH can allow us to offer clients special terms for multi-target deals. Domainex is also using this increased capacity to work through a "gallery" of CDH targets over the next year or so. Most of the gallery targets are proteins that are known to be difficult to work with, but which have good disease validation. Commercial deals around gallery targets can be developed with customers on an exclusive or non-exclusive basis. If you would like to discuss an existing gallery target with Domainex, or would like to nominate a target for inclusion in the gallery, please contact us.
