Domainex initiates company-wide training programmes

One thing at Domainex we have in common, irrespective of our skills and levels of experience, is a desire to continually improve and grow our knowledge to better support our clients achieve their objectives.  As the organisation continues its rapid growth, we have recently extended our training programmes to cover both enhancing our technical skills and to better equip our leaders for the new opportunities we see ahead of us.

At the scientific level, there have been a series of workshops on medicinal chemistry delivered by Dr. Rob Young, a consultant with over 30 years of drug discovery experience, to help introduce biologists to the field. These workshops have accelerated the learning of those relatively new to medicinal chemistry and reinforced the thinking of more experienced members of the team.  By utilising the expertise of Rob as an external consultant we have gained a fresh perspective on familiar topics which will ultimately strengthen our ability to help drive client projects forward.

Like many scientific organisations, most of Domainex’s leaders have reached their position by progressing through the scientific ranks where the emphasis is placed upon technical expertise and matrix project management, perhaps ahead of leadership skills.  At Domainex over the years, we have fostered a collegiate culture across our varied disciplines so that our staff gain high quality technical support and receive individual guidance on their performance. We are committed to providing our scientific managers with the skills to help the colleagues they manage achieve their full potential.  To this end, we have enrolled all of our associate directors, group leaders and team leaders on a leadership programme, provided by Talking Ape.  For many this is a chance to refresh their skills, whereas for others it is their first foray into leadership training. The programme covers various skills such as emotional intelligence, influencing, motivating, team dynamics and impactful communication as well as raising awareness of their own personality profile.

Here at Domainex, we recognise leadership starts at the top and thus the executive team has also embarked upon a programme with Talking Ape to strengthen the bonds within the team and create a company culture where psychological safety and open communication is encouraged and accepted.

We are grateful to Kate Arneil and James Marshall at Talking Ape and to Rob Young for their time and effort in bringing these programmes to the Domainex team.
